Privacy Notice

Columbus United Federal Credit Union, a member owned financial institution, is committed to providing members with competitive products and services to meet their financial needs and help them reach their goals. We are equally committed to protecting the privacy of our members. Under federal law, we are required to provide a privacy notice to explain the credit union's practices concerning the member information we collect, disclose and safeguard. It also includes information about the parties who receive personal and sometimes nonpublic member information from us as we conduct the business of the credit union.

Information We Collect and Disclose About You

We collect nonpublic personal information from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications and other forms.
  • Information about your transactions with us or others.
  • Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency.
  • Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on an application or other forms.  This may be obtained from your current or past employers or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions.

Columbus United Federal Credit Union may also work closely with companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or with other financial institutions that we have joint marketing agreements to offer products and services to meet member needs. We share the information needed to provide those products and services and to provide quality member service. Some of these companies may include financial service providers such as insurance companies and payment processing companies and non-financial companies such as check printing, statement processing and data processing companies. As a result, we may also share your nonpublic personal information with each other as permitted by law.

To protect our members' privacy, we only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections and abide by the credit union's Privacy Policy and limit the use of information we provide.

If you decide to terminate your membership or become an inactive member, we will adhere to the privacy policy and practices as described in this notice.

How We Protect Your Information

The credit union restricts access to your personal and account information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you.

The credit union maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act Policy

The following information is collected directly from children under age 13:

  • Account Number
  • Account Type/POD
  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Telephone Number
  • e-mail Address
  • Name
  • Address

Information obtained from children under age 13 is for the sole purpose of accepting applications for membership or a loan. Information obtained is used for no other purpose and is all that is necessary for the purposes described.

Information collected from children under 13 is not disclosed to third parties.

Parental consent is required for the collection, use and subsequent disclosure of personal information from children under age 13. Parents will receive written notice from the credit union of collection of information from their child once it is determined that application for membership or loan has been made.

Parents have the right to review their child's personal information and have it deleted if they so choose and prohibit future collection and use. The parent(s) may notify the credit union of such deletion or prohibition using the following contact information:
